Need help figuring how much material you need? Use the equations below to help you calculate needed material (some jobs may need a little more or less than figured).
(2000 lbs. = 1 Ton)
6" = 9 -12 lbs.
8" = 20 - 25 lbs.
10" = 45 - 50 lbs.
12" = 75 - 90 lbs.
18" = 200 - 250 lbs.
24" = 500 - 650 lbs.
30" = 1100 - 1300 lbs.
6" - 8" Boulders = 12-15 sq. ft. of wall per ton
12" - 18" Boulders = 8 -10 sq. ft. of wall per
ton
18" - 30" Boulders = 5 -7 sq. ft. of wall per ton
4"- 8" cobbles average. 6 lbs –approx. 330 stone
per ton
8"- 12" cobbles average. 20 lbs –approx. 100
stone per ton
12"- 18" cobbles average. 60 lbs –approx. 23
stone per ton
Dirt depth on new lawns 4”+
top dressing lawns ¼”
Mulches 3”+ in landscape beds
We base our dirt and mulch prices on volume, by
the cubic yard, which is a 3’x3’x3’ cube. Generally a cubic yard will cover
80 square feet at a 4” depth on average or an 8’x10’ area.
Equation for dirt and mulch:
(square footage x desired depth, in inches) divided by 324 = needed cubic
yards
